Are there any jewellery care tips?

Sterling silver, 14kt gold filled and 14kt solid gold are all soft metals so each jewellery piece should be stored separately to avoid scratching.

It’s best not to leave jewellery (especially sterling silver) exposed to air over long periods, as this will contribute to precious metal tarnish.

Tarnish is a natural process that courses a discoloration on silver jewellery and other precious metals and will occur over time when exposed to perspiration, skin acids and oils, cosmetics and hydrogen sulphide gas found in the air.

Jewellery should be cleaned regular with soft cloth to avoid tarnish.

In order to maintain the beauty of each piece, store in the soft pouch provided when you’re not wearing your item.

Remember to clasp your necklaces and bracelets when storing, to prevent them from getting tangled.

• If you find yourself with a particularly stubborn knot in a chain, the best tools are a needle and some patience.

All 14k gold is 58.5% pure 24k gold. Generally, the higher the carat weight, the softer the metal (14kt is more scratch resistant than 18kt or 22kt).

Gold-plating is a method of depositing a thin layer of gold onto the surface of another metal.

As any surface treatment, the gold-plating will wear off over time and use, to show the metal underneath. The wearing process can be slowed down if you take good care of your pieces.

All gold plating can be replated if needed.

100% silk cord is a beautiful natural fibre.

Pieces made with silk cord are very delicate and become even more so with time.

Similar to a silk blouse, silk cord is sensitive to a range of chemical situations and cannot withstand prolonged exposure to either high alkalinity or to acid or oily soils. It will become brittle with age and exposure to sunlight and with time it tends to fray and stretch.

The best way to care for your silk pieces is to avoid long periods of exposed sunlight, chlorinated water from showers or pools, contact with makeup and skin creams, nail polish removers, perfume and hairspray.
