Vintage Sicilian Earthenware Lidded Box - 1970s–80s

A striking oval ceramic box from Caltagirone, Sicily - a town celebrated for its centuries-old ceramic tradition. Crafted in the 1970s–80s, this piece features a monochromatic blue-on-ivory design inspired by 16th-century Spanish motifs. The interwoven foliage pattern creates a soothing, rhythmic flow, giving the box a calming presence.

Made from earthenware - pottery fired at a lower temperature, resulting in a slightly porous, organic feel - it has a soft, tactile charm that sets it apart from porcelain or stoneware. With its generous size and sculptural lid, it makes a beautiful statement piece for storing jewellery, keepsakes or simply styling your space.
